When you know what you love and you trust who you are, you know what to do. You lose yourself in the best way and find yourself even better. You’re playful and real and whole and true. Creativity is ripe and abundant. It’s time for us all to reclaim these powerful aspects of ourselves and learn to live more fully in them. Luckily, we all have Leo in our charts, we were all born with the Sun somewhere, and all have a 5th house. (If you’re not sure what this is or where it is, or what I mean, schedule a Natal Chart Reading and make sense of it all).
The days leading up to the Aquarius Full Moon, the second half of August and this transformative season are roaring with glee, calling us home and asking us to say yes to who we are and what we want. May this Full Moon show you how needed and valuable you are, as you are, always.
August 12: Jupiter Moves Direct // Uranus Stations Retrograde
As Jupiter stations direct and Uranus stations retrograde, we have a changing of the guards. I recognize this experience as slightly anxious and angsty, as Uranus rules the nervous system and Jupiter rules expansion… potentially leading us to feel overwhelmed in our imaginings, frustrated in what’s not working or growing or taking off, and fearful of what is coming next.
These are days to slow down and really, really, focus on the powerfully transformative state of gratitude. Can you be grateful for what is? Appreciative of all that has grown in your life to land you here, where you are, with all that you do have and all that is working.
Uranus brings about the unexpected, so as the wheel of Jupiter’s forward motion begins to turn again, it’s best to open yourself up to interesting things that are coming together behind the scenes and beyond what you can see, or imagine, or know.
- Could you allow the discomfort of these days to teach you how strong you actually are, to move through life, despite discomfort? (You’re allowed to say no… it’s just a thought).
- What brave act could you take today to affirm your significance?
What I notice prominently about the astrology thus far this summer is that there has been very little planetary action happening in air signs (Gemini, Libra and Aquarius). The air element symbolizes intellect and communication and thinking. This summer has beckoned us to move away from thinking and analyzing… in fact, the deeper we’ve tried to go into thinking and “figuring it out,” the further away what we want seems to move. This hasn’t been a season to pragmatize, rather we are being guided to trust. Trust in ourselves, trust in each other, trust in the universe.
August 13: Moon moves into Aquarius opposite Mercury in Leo // Sun conjunct Venus in Leo
As the moon slips into group-oriented Aquarius we move into the energy of the Full Moon (August 15). Now, we’re working with the air element, offering perspective and the ability to see our current reality with a little less emotion and a bit more pragmatism.
Quite quickly the moon opposes Mercury for a brief moment, igniting within a spark of remembrance and inspiration of your unique individuality and contribution to the whole. With Mercury and Mars firmly in Leo, this could also bring about a sense of bravery, asserting who you are, calling out what feels unjust and straight up speaking truth for yourself as you see it and feel it and know it.
This lovely moment pairs well with the dance of Venus and the Sun in Leo, reminding us that lasting love, right-relations and bountiful beauty can only be authentic when the rights of each individual is heard and revered and we’re all exalted in our highest, seen as creative and whole and powerful in the lives we each craft for ourselves.
Remember, today and into the week: your voice is truth, your opinion is valid and your perspective can and should be heard… most significantly, by YOU. Where it is not received is not proof of your insignificance, but a significant indication of where you may be called to revoke your energy and attention.
August 15: Full Moon in Aquarius ( 22°’24, 5:29am PST)
Thursday morning brings the Moon in Aquarius opposite the Sun in Leo. This Full Moon comes with Venus, Mars, and Mercury all dancing beneath the sun’s rays, calling us to look a bit more objectively at the one within who is fearful of love and progress so that we can allow more of both in.
Peaceful, cool, open-minded Aquarius wants us all to transcend falsehoods and division and fallacies of separation or inadequacy. Aquarius has the energy of evolution and revolution. Through her vision, she strives to create a harmonious future for us all. Yet, wrapped in her good intention is a slight shadow of detachment. Aquarius needs a bit of fire to ignite the progress she seeks, which is exactly what Leo can provide.
This lunation is an opportunity to remember that moving towards a dream is a collective effort made of individual passion. When worked with, we can direct devotion and creativity into something bigger; a remembrance that change cannot happen on vision alone nor can we create the change we envision on our own.
True collective progress and authentic community comes when we honor the individual passion (Leo) that drives the vision (Aquarius), serving the living, growing, evolving company we keep. Collective ideals inspire individual ideas just as air is necessary to maintain the bonfire. This is the closing of a moon cycle that urges us to use the energy of objectivity to recognize the company we keep, acknowledge ways we may be using community to escape our desires and ourselves and release the incongruences that hold back collective progress.
True community, true activism, true growth comes when neither the group goal nor the individual’s creativity is compromised.
Somewhere in your life may exist a sacrifice or stifling of your own self-expression, holding you back from contributing authentically… this is the moon to look for it and let it go.
- Who are the 5 most significant people in your life right now?
- What social causes light a fire within you?
- How can you contribute your creativity and inner-genius to contribute towards change?
August 18: Mars moves into Virgo
Leo and Virgo seasons are notably marked by Stelliums, a configuration of three or more personal planets conjunct. Occupying close quarters together causes a blending of energies and creates a sense that the cosmic activities are, well, personal. Mars moving into Virgo marks the beginning of the exodus from Leo into Virgo and a day to consider:
- What details motivate you
- What routines drive you?
- What causes inspire you to take action?
August 21: Venus enters Virgo
Paired with Mars, Venus enters Virgo making it two personal planets in this mutable Earth sign. This is a day to consider your love language. With Venus in Leo, love takes on a grounded, practical energy and gets sort of… real.
- How are you demonstrating love-in-action within your life?
- What details make you feel seen and loved?
- How do you experience love?
- What relationships inspire you to grow?
August 23: Sun enters Virgo
This transit shines a spotlight on the passion and joy and creativity we cultivated in Leo season and invites us to bring it down to Earth and make it real and meaningful and steady. I think of this transitory season as the movement from honeymoon phase into deep and lasting love… if you’ve been there, you may know that there’s a moment when you realize it may be for real. Within this is a realization that this love may not be easy but it feels worth it to go deeper. With Venus and Mars here, we have the invitation to fall deeper in love with our innate perfection and take action to create for ourselves a heaven on earth.
- As infinitely creative beings full of vision and dreams and capability, what will you do with this one life?
- What details really give your life meaning?
- Who are you when you imagine your highest self? …Go ahead and illustrate who you are, how you feel, how you relate, what you do when you are acting from the the highest version of yourself you can imagine at this time.
Refer to the questions posed for Leo season, here, to remember what you love, who you love, and how you love.
August 29: Mercury moves into Virgo, completing the stellium.
Just in time for the Virgo New Moon on August 30, Mercury moves into its Earth home in Virgo. Mercury has significant power in Virgo, urging us to write down our lists, communicate our needs and discover the details that are necessary to give our routines meaning so we continue to do the good work through the remainder of the year.
In order to move fully into the newness of late-summer and leverage the energy of the Virgo New Moon tomorrow, we must see love or take action towards love within all of the details of life. This may mean big shifts, but you’re likely well used to that by now. With September, it’s time to get back to school and back to work, with love and with care.
Leo Season Synopsis:
There are stories floating around that being enlightened means being happy. No perennial text teaches this and it is not true nor possible, all of the time. The process of awareness isn’t about happiness, it’s about realness. Enlightenment is not about disregarding what isn’t light, but about reaching deep down into the dark, rooting into the wisdom birthed there and growing towards the light, planted, steady and whole. This is the season to reach for the light – remembering we all get closer when we each go deeper.
If you’ve lost sight of yourself this season, let’s remember: growth is allowed to be messy and uncomfortable and inconsistent and we each get to expand in exactly the right way for ourselves. We need everyone on board feeling and listening and growing what’s perfectly right and ripe for them. So choose for you. Live the betterment of your own standards for yourself and allow others to strive for their own light, too.
Leo season is a teacher that playing small and staying stuck has nothing to do with anyone else… and staying true and taking up space benefits everyone. An external perception or belief of who you are and what you should do is no more or less significant than your own. What you can work with is your own sense of self and how you choose to express who you see yourself to be. What a call for courage!!
Let’s use this last week of Leo season to transcend and awaken a sense of individual creativity and fully own that evolution requires EACH of us to contribute. Let’s use this week to inspire trust in ourselves and each other. I’ll be brave if you’ll be brave, deal?
Repeat after me:
I trust in the timing of my life. I trust that who is in my life is meant to be in my life and who is not is not meant to be there right now. I trust that nothing is permanent or forever and that I always have choice. I trust that no one can take away my power and that even if I’ve surrendered, it is the power of my choice that made it so.
I trust that no matter my circumstances, I can always choose a loving action. I trust that I can always choose to contribute towards justice and kindness even when my outside world lacks it.
I trust that I was made from love and that I can know how to recognize and return to love again. I trust that what may seem far away can always come closer, if I want it so.
I trust in my growth. I trust that beneath everything is something unshakable and real and authentic. I trust that I was made for this time and this place and that I can and I will.
I trust in the almighty and the always. I trust myself and choose myself, again and again and again.
