What a summer it has been! The fires of July have brought us through into the final days of a three-part eclipse season.
On August 11, we experience the closing of the eclipse portal with the new moon solar eclipse in Leo. This is the time to keep your senses open for messages that show you more of what is going on in the world — and deep within.
So what the heck is going on… and how can you step through it like a warrior with fierce courage and strength?
The weekend of July 27 in retrospect
This lunar eclipse brought with it an invitation to slip into the inner-world to reflect on the direction you’re going as well as the realms of your life that may need more courage, strength and confidence. You are immensely supported to shed perspectives and programing that are limiting you from making the progress you are trying to call in.
A full moon in itself is a time when the sun shines brightly on the moon, illuminating the qualities of Luna: the emotional, introspective, inner-verse. When we place the Earth right in the middle, we go further into the shadow as we’re called to dive into inquiry and illuminate what, exactly, we’re doing here – on Earth, as a human, at this time.
This full moon took place in Aquarius – a sign that is intellectual, creative and deeply compassionate. An archetype that has its focus on the big picture.
This has given us the opportunity to see a new perspective. To think beyond circumstances, programming and sociology.
We are being called right now to heal the parts of us that have been shaped by a limited view of reality. When we see more, we come closer to seeing our own wholeness and the aspects of that hold us back from deeply connecting fall away.
So often we know one side of history or one side of the story. Consider how you can step out of that to gain clarity around what may feel atrocious or confusing in your life. What agitates you is a block from seeing the full experience of love. Start there.
Through this process is the opportunity to gain greater awareness of your inner world and the chance to expand and prepare for a change that is on the cusp.
When planets station retrograde, their qualities and themes become disrupted, inverted and delayed. Taking the messages of this summer’s retrogrades to heart is a big encouragement to slow down, reflect consciously and (with hope) put this season’s events into context… so that you can align yourself and your actions with what’s authentic for you and your growth.
Saturn retrograde has been touching our lives since March, asking us to re-align the aspects of us that live in Capricorn (to know what that might be, pull up your chart or schedule a reading!). This will impact how we relate to time, money and success.
Pluto, the smallest and quite possibly, most powerful planet rules transformation in the grand sense – death, destruction and powerful change. When retrograde, a call is made to explore your own relationship with these themes. As in, how do you relate to power – your own, and others?
Neptune, a planet of dreams, creativity and the spirit, stays retrograde until November. Stay connected to the Earth here with lots of time outside, as this period makes it hard to ignore the spiritual.
Uranus moves retrograde August 7. This initiates his transit back into the sign of Aries. This is most notably impacting your nervous system and how you feel into the world (especially while moving through Taurus). Full upgrade mode is here for us all. Uranus represents awakening – often in shocking and sudden ways. When retrograde, we’re reminded that in order to change the world, we must change ourselves first.
Mars and Mercury create the perfect recipe for tension and communication breakdown so these weeks are very much encouraging a deeper practice of introspection: Every experience is here to teach you, to grow you and to guide you into alignment in your relationships and experiences in the world. But these messages don’t survive well in loud, busy places. So, take frequent breaks to check-in with yourself so that you can remain mindful and present to your reactions and experiences.
Until Mercury (on August 18) and Mars move direct (on August 27), pause first to choose your responses wisely.
The poet Hafiz wisely says, “the words you speak become the house you live in,” an invitation for you to ask yourself frequently: Is what I am about to say better than silence? Let the answer guide you as you step into relationship this month.
If this feels big – remember, the greatest tool you have to bring yourself back to earth is your breath. So, Breathe!
Looking towards August 11
This final eclipse is like the grand finale and marks the closing of the transformative portal. This isn’t really the time to try to get anything done, but rather a time to focus on who you are.
What happens – expected and unexpected – this summer sets the tone for the months (and years) ahead… but this isn’t about doing… this is the time to reflect on being.
Everything is up for review. Be open (and ruthless) – call yourself out.
As we move through these final days to the closing of Eclipse season, ease will come more easily to those who are flexible. The journey for change is set, even if all of the shakeups aren’t complete.
