February feels fresh. Two full moons had my January bursting at the seams, full of inspiration and FLOW as well as quite a bit of second guessing, fear, grief and exhaustion. I see it as a preview of the year we’re stepping into.
Here, on the other side of January I find myself incredibly inspired by the colors, scents, flavors and feels of life right now.
And honestly, that feels really good because I believe 2018 is asking big things of all of us. With all that we’re building – individually and collectively, the most magic comes from connecting to uplifting community.
My dear sister Jessica Brown and I did just that this past weekend with 10 inspiring friends who joined us in a workshop we’re calling LOVE + CHOCOLATE.
Essential, Healing Oils.
It was a dream!
I love sharing the benefits of cacao and other medicinal foods that benefit the body and soul, yoga nidra has been the most recent healing tool I’ve grown to offer and essential oils are my absolute favorite way to clear energy, shift my mood and smell incredible. Jessica is one of my favorite friends to indulge in all of the above with, so this workshop was definitely an exciting one to put together for us.
If you weren’t able to join, for whatever reason, fear not – the recipe below will get you full on tasty, nutritious, chocolate – for yourself or a sweet heart in your life. We used ingredients we love and hope you’ll love too!
Cacao is an incredible superfood that makes up the chocolate many of us adore. With cacao, you receive all of the benefits of chocolate without the sugar. Benefits such as iron (the highest plant-based source known to man!), incredible antioxidant powder, magnesium and calcium. I love cacao because it’s full of the bliss chemicals known to improve wellbeing, happiness and joy. Yes please!
Maca is an adaptogen – which helps to bring the body into balance, encouraging an increase or decrease in hormones that are too high or low. Eat it for a boost in energy or a lift in mood. It’s also great to increase sex drive, boost fertility, balance blood sugar and even improve circulation.
Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides are my newest love – a great protein source that contains only one ingredient: collagen from sustainably sourced beef. It has no flavor and you can add a scoop to just about anything and that 1 scoop has over 9 grams of protein! I put it in smoothies, tonics and oatmeals, as well as my chocolate sweet recipes. Collage is great because it helps with joint pain, gut and liver health. It strengthens teeth, benefits skin and hair, improves metabolism and boosts muscle mass – everything to make you feel sexier, even in the winter!
Tangerine Essential Oil is a great source of vitamin C to pair with cacao because vitamin C will help to activate plant-based iron. Tangerine helps to improve digestion, soothe inflammation and improve circulation.
Nutmeg Essential Oil is awesome. It improves immunity, digestion, reduces inflammation and boosts brain function. But we love it because it is a natural aphrodisiac – improving circulation and heightening sex drive.
