POTENTIATING BEYOND THE PAST // NEW MOON SOLAR ECLIPSE IN CAPRICORN 2019
SOLAR ECLIPSE AT 4 DEGREES OF CAPRICORN CONJUNCT JUPITER AND THE MOON’S SOUTH NODE // DECEMBER 25TH ~ 9:13PM PST
NEW MOON SQUARE CHIRON
The ceaseless shift of the living world continues to be my greatest teacher. She reveals her simple lessons in moments I’m quiet enough to just look. This winter season (in the Northern Hemisphere) brings with it winds of change – sometimes gentle, often sudden, frequently shocking. But this is how walls fall down – a change in current, a new season, a shift in tides.
The necessity of change is speaking louder and louder as each day passes. And today, it’s here as a solar eclipse in Capricorn on Christmas Day, amidst a season that pulls us all out of a regular routine as we close a year and conclude a decade.
This season is about practicality and honesty and realness – a reality check into what’s working and what’s not. Which is often only observable when we are out of our regular programming. When we’re moving through the energy of Earth like we do in Capricorn season, there is a greater ability to tune into the subtext what’s actually going on. Stuff comes to the surface that we must face and ultimately it, though not easy, is a good thing.
RETURNING HOME // ECLIPSE ON THE SOUTH NODE
Eclipse season is a 6-month cycle. The aspects of this New Moon Eclipse sets in motion a 6-month cycle that will undoubtably shift the path we each walk in the year and decade to come. Within it all is a call to look squarely at the old systems, structures and paradigms that block progress towards greater love and greater prosperity and greater truth. And baked in, a reminder that we not only can change, but we must – there’s no other way of operating at this point. As the old walls fall and old ways become irrelevent, resistance to what is has become futile.
The challenges we face, the set backs we experience and the obstacles we must overcome are helping us to address issues that keep us tuned into the structures and systems that no longer meet our needs.
The placement of this Eclipse on the South Node of the moon lends itself to reflection of the past and how our culture and history and beliefs are informing the choices and privileges we have now. The question becomes whether we follow the path that’s familiar or strike out on our own. The answer requires we get real in how we look at things: are our needs really being met by the systems we have in place?
The inquiry gives insight into why things are unfolding the way they are. There are multiple options: we can work through our issues, we can overcome them, we can let them go or we can use the past as motivation to transform the present and the future.
So, what if instead of dropping into the story, we see the story and step beyond it? What if we use this time to reaffirm: we are enough, we have enough, there is enough. And build a life around that.
This year has been guiding us to be our own authorities, our own teachers and our own healers. Everything has been guiding us home to this moment. This is another push forward – letting go of what we are still clinging to for validation and the old habits we are accustomed to falling into, especially in our family and community and culture of origin.
There’s great potential to decondition and to eclipse the old way of reacting, responding anew with fresh perspective and new priorities. There’s value in clearing away what no longer meets our needs to make way for new systems that do. It doesn’t have to mean winners and losers. It means we all recognize that the old mechanisms used to cope and defend… they don’t work.
So, as you encounter this eclipse, watch your own way of engaging. Craft your own rules. You CAN step beyond the drama and create a new pattern. You can choose peace. You can choose space. You can step beyond projections. You can step into your power.
As you lay your intention for this final moon of the decade, look to how you can be empowered to change your circumstances and the constructs you bow to (in your communities and in yourself.)
Square to Chiron is another little gift: the realization that if justice is not being served, it might just be your task to serve it. This goes for standing up for what you believe is right – in the face of an old paradigm that places power in the hands of the priviledged at the expense of just about everyone else. Chiron in Aries is ultimately shifting the foundation on which we see our healing work, reminding us that we each have the power to shift the collective voice.
This might be an area of tension at the dinner table, so if you feel it’s your task to educate, stay in your breath and stay in your body. Maintain the boundaries you need to keep peace within yourself, even if that means walking away to collect yourself. Aries tends to fire us up, but Capricorn is a diplomat. Lean into the voice of reason, truth and integrity should to find yourself confronted.
CLAIMING YOUR POWER
Remember, we are creatures of habit. We think between 60,000 – 70,000 thoughts in one day. 90% of those thoughts are exactly the same ones as the day before. This goes for you and every other human, too.
In order to change, you have to become conscious of your unconscious self. The hardest part is not making the same choices you made yesterday, not looping into the same story, the same blame, the same sadness, the same routine. Why is this hard? Your old self has to die for a new one to be reborn. it’s uncomfortable!!
Give yourself some credit. Validate yourself. The hard work you’ve done makes a difference but you don’t have to work all the time at it. You must take breaks. You must care for yourself. And you can allow yourself to be taken care of, too – perhaps especially by yourself! Remember: You are an essential part of this world. Show up. Connect. See. Listen. Feel.
May you allow yourself the vulnerable incredibly valuable opportunity to unravel every false story that tells you that you are stuck, not enough, a victim, or are bound by your genes, your family or your circumstances. You are so worthy of an incredible life that is full of beauty and love and peace and calm. You are alive and it’s a total gift.
A new life is possible, but it takes conscious action. If you’re programmed to choose the same thing, which ends up making you feel dissatisfied or unhappy, you have to choose something different – repeatedly. You have power over change. Ride it out. Change it up. Endure. Stay focused. Stay inspired. The unknown is the perfect place to create from – it’s the only place where possibility exists.
I’ll close with another piece of wisdom from Baba Ram Dass:
The most exquisite paradox… as soon as you give it all up, you can have it all. As long as you want power, you can’t have it. The minute you don’t want power, you’ll have more than you ever dreamed possible.
Happy Christmas and Happy Holiday and Happy healthy, holy heart from me to you.

Something happens when you go through a big healing process – you realize what’s imortant to you, what type of relationship you want and what kind of partner you want to be… and you see who is meeting those needs (or not).
This year has been one to show you that the better a partner you are to yourself, the better a partner you can be to another. And when you see yourself more clearly, you can see your relationships more clearly, too.
This month, this eclipse, might be showing you a glimpse into what’s workign and what’s not in the realm of your relationships – particularly those you’ve made a commitment to. All of it may show you ways you’re tying yourself to an old system that doesn’t quite meet your needs anymore. The time has come to let go of old standards that may be impossible to meet and open yourself up to the possibilities of something better.
Inquiry:
What have I learned this year about commitment?
How do my partnerships make me feel?
What shifts do I want to make in my relationships?

There’s no time like Capricorn season – with it’s holidays and festivals of feating and celebrations of community to take a hard look at your routines and rituals and ways of caring for yourself.
This moon might be calling on you to look a little closer at your health and how you structure it into your life. Really, it’s a good moment to explore how you structure everything in your life! And if you’re off the mark of what would be best for you, it may feel like life is forcing you to slow down and set out on a new path – one that places you brightly at the front and center.
We really only have a certain number of hours each day – make sure you’re tending to your lion’s mane and big full heart as much as you may be making time for everything else. You’re most potent when you’re prioritizing what you know makes you feel your best. remember it’s all in the details!

This moon is calling on you to tune into what you want to create in the year ahead and make a plan to build it up and share it out.
Once you tune into this, you’ll have no problem commiting to it. Whether you’re working on a relationship or a project or keeping inspiration alive within your own heart, your integrity to keep trying and continuously improve is admirable and inspiring.
Your task is to let go of what might no longer spark your fire and devote your heart to what brings you joy.

This time of year tends to bring us back to our early ideas of home… whether we go there in real life or visit the home of winter’s past in our memory. For most of us it’s complicated. You’re not the same person you were back then and no one else is the same either. This might be a time of exploring what places and spaces and people and groups make you feel safe enough to share all of yourself.
This week might bring up the old rules and roles you used to play into. It might show you how easy it is to fall back into an old pattern. It might show you just how far you’ve come.
Remember that home always means what you need it to mean and the safest home is the one you’ve built for yourself inside of your heart.
Inquiry:
Am I happy with my home?
Is there any role I play that I am ready to release?
Am I allowing my family to change, too?
Scorpio
There are systems and structures in place designed to keep you quiet. It’s better that way, they think – because you see straight through the bullshit right into the damn truth. Well, it feels to me that time is up. What if your expression is exactly what we need to see the truth and make the change?
This year and this moon can be quite confronting and they’re calling on you to get really good at speaking up and speaking out – for yourself and for your truth and for the world you give so much to.
I hope you know that this whole thing is part of a big process that will eventually make a bunch of sense. For now, let yourself be new at this whole “using your voice” thing and share yur truth anyway – spill your secrets and let the world know what you think. I believe a lot of love will come your way when you do.
Inquiry:
How can I uplevel my communication?
Is there a more authentic way I can express my truth?
Sagittarius
2019 has been a journey that, I hope, has brought you to see your value and what you’re worth. What’s coming to the surface for you now might be revealing the ways you’re playing into old rules and old roles about money and resources and who sets the rate.
Remember: it’s you who sets the rate and you’re worth whatever cost helps you reach your goals, meet your needs or live the life that aligns with your values. Money is a resource that supports your freedom and you no longer have to live in ways that don’t affirm that.
What this moon stirs up for you is a reminder that you ARE free, you ARE valuable, you ARE whole. Time to set the bar high and soar.
Inquiry:
How have my perspectives of money, resources and value shifted this year?
What am I ready to welcome in?
Capricorn
I am so excited for all that you’re going to do this year! It’s like the massive gift of the massive shift that’s been 2019! New systems! New structures! New boundaries! Maybe even a new watch to keep track of your new schedule! (Only a Capricorn would understand how thrilling this all is).
This moon is you, looking in the mirror, at the new version of you that you are. It’s always OK to have trepidation and ultimately, there’s a function to your fears, too (thank goodness for function!). Just remember: you’re prepared, you have a vision and now you’ve got Jupiter waking you up to get to work!
Inquiry:
What areas of my life am I most excited to expand?
Where am I afraid to be fully me and waht action can I take to break free?
Aquarius
Think of this week asyou rown private retreat. Your time to tuck in and go deep into the intuition you’ve been cultivating all year long. The ise voice within is getting louder and louder and it’s coming through so clear. Give yourself the time and space to listen and draw forth the wisdom that will guide you to what’s next. Your season to shine and share is quickly approaching, but your biggest task for now is this: rest and pray and dream and feel and let it all come up and out. I always like to say that when you know what to do, you’ll do it. So for now, if you don’t know, don’t do a thing!
Inquiry:
How am I acknowledging my inner voice and inner needs?
If I were on a private retreat, what practices and forms of inner care would I prioritize?
Pisces
This moon is rippling through your social spheres, stirring up insights and revelations for you to see how much you’ve grown, how much you care and how much you are uniquely and perfectly who you are. There couldn’t be another way even if you tried!
May this week illuminate for you that you don’t have to fit in to shine. There will always be plenty who don’t understand your changing nature, and that’s perfectly OK, because you’ll go right on changing anyway.
There are communities in your midst that see you, celebrate you and honor you. Wrap yourself up in their arms and surround yourself in their cause and remember that love follows you everywhere you go.
Inquiry:
What are you learning from your community?
Are there boundaries you need to follow through with to stay true to your message?
